Performer
Anne O’Rourke is a singer-songwriter from the North Fork. They draw on a wide array of influences, from the story-telling of musical theater to anthemic indie rock ear worms. Anne's upbeat folksy originals lean on lush vocal harmonies and unique arrangements, and even though they wield an acoustic guitar, they're not afraid to get loud. Anne uses songwriting to reshape narratives into a force for good in the world, and their infectious positivity invites the listener along on a journey of growth. Fans of Fountains of Wayne and Brandi Carlile alike will find plenty to love.
Before they could even talk, Anne would sing. They started playing violin at age six through the Suzuki program. At age 14, they picked up the acoustic guitar for the first time and took lessons on their living room floor with local musician Mark LaRosa. He was the one to suggest Anne tried songwriting. Once he found out that they wrote poetry and sang, playing guitar and writing their own songs was the obvious next step. Anne can recall coming home from school on a rainy day, listening to early Beatles songs for hours, and then writing their first song in October 2009. The lyrics and melody came first, the chords followed. By early 2023, they’d completed their 100th song.
